Online proofing
I just finished getting setup with an account for online proofing and sales. www.jloye.instaproofs.com is the location. I’ll be uploading my first event tonight after the Red Wing Chamber annual dinner. I’ve been asked to photograph the event and will be selling images online. Assuming all goes well with the trial run, it will be an easy way for high school seniors and families to see and share their senior and family portraits with family and friends. I might even try it with commercial work.
Community Ed class
Tonight I’m off to Zumbrota to teach a community ed class on digital camera basics. We go over everything from how to turn a camera on, understanding what megapixels mean, to using many of the different functions of point & shoot digital cameras. I also spend a few minutes going over how to capture better photographs. I’ve taught this class many times before and nearly everyone feels like they learn a lot about their cameras. It’s fun to teach folks something new and once in awhile, it results in a little business for me.
New studio space
I spent much of yesterday afternoon getting my new space set up. I was able to get most everything well organized and the new light booth fits great next to my monitor. Color correcting will be much easier now. I decorated the walls with Red Wing Shoe prints, commercial photography samples, head shots, senior portraits, and a few landscape photos as well. I have a busy week coming up. Several doctors are coming in for business portraits and a small product shoot is on the calendar too. Business After Hours
Tonight was our Business After Hours at the studio. We had close to 100 visitors pass thru our spaces. It was great to see so many folks and get to show off my work and studio. I spoke a bit about expanding beyond commercial photography to more portrait photography here in Red Wing. I also met a few people for the first time tonight.
Portfolio photography
The portfolio shoot that I was working on a few weeks ago is continuing. We are now in the final stages of color correction for several of the products and waiting on proof prints. There are two products being photographed a second time in an attempt to highlight different areas of the designs. The final product photographs should be complete by the end of the week.
