Architectural Photography

This morning I was up with sun to do some architectural photography.  There’s a newer healthcare building in town for seniors that is going to be featured in some advertising.  I setup and walked all the angles as the sun was just rising.  After it lit the entire facade of main entrance, I started shooting.  In all I created 7 images, from various angles and color temperatures as the sun rose higher.  Exterior architecture is always a challenge because it is important to give the images depth, which can be hard when working with a large building.  I photographed with different elements in the foreground just for that reason and I think the final results were rather successful.

The meeting week

This week seems like it’s been meeting after meeting.  That’s okay though, cause meetings tend to lead to more projects, especially in the advertising world.  Lots of discussion about where ideas should go before the work begins.  I spent the afternoon today attempting to photograph some small chrome plated metal parts.  They are really tough as they all have a slight curve to then and reflect from every angle so I need the perfect reflections to make them look good.  In the end they look very nice, but it took some work to get there.  This weekend I’ll be  shooting the annual summer regional for my wife’s company.  It will be nice to get out of the studio.

Sports photography

The past couple of weeks have been filled with a lot of soccer and softball photos around Red Wing.  I’ve photographed boys and girls from 8 to 17 years old.  I let the kids have some fun with the shoots, picking their own poses and buddy shots if they want any.  All the pictures get posted to a website, www.jloye.instaproofs.com, if you’d like to see some samples of my youth sports photography.  From there, parents can order whatever they’d like to have.  It works quite well.

Busy couple of weeks

It’s nice to have a minute to update the blog.  I’ve had a busy couple of weeks with some serious reviews of my marketing plan, soccer team photos, dance photos, more products, and a bit of healthcare photography as well.  I’m looking at expanding into the River Falls, Hudson, and Woodbury area.  I’ve hired a woman to do some sales and marketing for me.  I’m excited about working with some new companies.  If you know of marketing or graphic/web design folks I should meet, please drop me a line.  I’d sure appreciate it!
