Portraits portraits
This is the week of portraits for me. I started with a number of individual portraits at a client’s building today. Tonight I’m off to the Red Wing firehall for a group portrait of the fire department. Tomorrow and Thursday I have folks coming in for professional portraits at the studio. Friday I’ll change things up and be shooting electrodes for a manufacturer located in Lake City.
Virtual Tours
Tomorrow I leave for the week to shoot virtual tours for a hotel chain in WIsconsin and Michigan. It will be A LOT of windshield time, but I’m excited to get away from the studio and do some location work. I use a heavy duty tripod, special wide angle lens and a tripod head designed specifically for shooting 360 panoramic images. Sometimes I’ll use a couple of lights if i can hide them. It’s fairly complex with exposure issues, leveling necessities and focus/depth of field difficulties. It’s also very different from most of the work I do, so I enjoy it a lot. The shoots are challenging from a time perspective as well. There’s only a limited window of time we can spend shooting each area so I have to work quickly. I’ll be working with a lap top this time, so I’ll be able to verify everything as I shoot. After I shoot everything, some very powerful software takes the images and stitches them together into the 360 virtual tour. They almost look better than the rooms themselves once we are done.
Back from vacation
I’m back after taking a week to mountain bike out west. It was great to get a break. Next week is going to be a busy week for me. I’ve got some lifestyle photographs to create on Monday lasting most of the day. Several products on Tuesday, as well as some portraits, several lifestyle photographs in the afternoon, and then a soccer team shoot later in the evening. Tuesday will be a full day. Wednesday I’ve got a business portrait in the morning and then probably some editing for the previous shoots. Thursday and Friday will be catchup days as well as preparing for a big hotel shoot coming up the following week. I’m excited to get back to shooting this week!
