Marketing in Hudson/St. Croix Valley
This is my week to do more marketing up around Hudson. Autmn is the time of year when marketing folks do their last minute projects before the yearly budgets run out. I’m headed to Hudson this week to do some door knocking and meet more folks in the marketing and advertising world. If you have any suggestions for people I should meet, please send me any contact info you might have for them. I have also completed my marketing postcard which will be going to a select group of people once I receive the cards. I’m working on a fun project for a woman who’s father just pasted away. Before he died, a cousin had all five of the kids and mom and dad put their hands together. It is the last photograph of the seven of them. She asked me to take the image and create a more timeless piece rather than a snap shot. I added some sepia color and I’m looking at different blending options and other effects. I’d like to post the final image, but it is too personal for me to post it on the internet. There’s a few older prints in the studio as well that I’m working on scanning and cleaning up some that will be a christmas present for my client. Another busy week in the studio…
Location portraits
The last week has been a lot of location portraiture. I bring a truck full of lights, backdrops, stands, etc and set up at a business. It’s very convenient for employees, especially doctors who don’t have very flexible schedules. I’ve also been shooting some events and I have another one next week at a nursing home that is getting decorated for halloween. Location event photography is always tough because the lighting is typically very poor and I don’t have the luxury of setting up a lot of lights. There’s always a few tricks that I can employee to get some interesting and fun images. Hopefully the snow won’t last too long, it’s supposed to be autumn, not winter.
